LOOK...the main floor is going in-

Well it's happening, the framing has begun and the crew is working hard to complete this phase. If you look close you can see where the stairs will be- Pictures don't do the 9' ceilings in the basement justice, they are wonderful! Uncle Bo and Dad are working where the stairs are located.
This shot is looking from Caleb's room towards the girls rooms with the doorway where Jake's room was.

Hauling the trusses from the front yard to the house.

Small pleasures

A basement floor.... Gathering wood and a Warm outdoor fire on a cold day....
Tree with the prettiest red berries....
Close-up view of those pretty berries....
A unique 'home' on the back of an oak leaf....
Some of the many small pleasures from the lot we enjoy I thought I'd share.

Thanksgiving brings fun company...

YAY Ellie, Jenna and Cory arrive!! Ellie came in a few hours ahead of Jen and Cory so we ran some errands while in the 'big' city. Once Jen and Cory land we travel directly to the restuarant to meet the family for dinner. Mamaw and Papaw also arrived for the festivities which is also a treat.

On Thanksgiving day...before everyone leaves the festivities and while they are still visiting and laughing at the table it was time to take the camera around and get some memories captured. It was a very enjoyable day with good food and laughter.

So glad Roger and Leslie were close enough to join the family for the weekend...always love their company.
Just before we say our good-byes at the airport and Cory, Jenna and Ellie head back to their busy lives. We LOVED their company and the fun they always bring with them! Sure was a quiet ride to the airport though- nothing like the chatty ride after picking them up! Go figure. Miss you all!!! The house is waaaay too quiet these days. The visit was great - we'll take what time we can get!

Critter and Scenery from the lot

I had to move a rather large rock to get to some materials and look who was hiding under it all crouched down and cozy! He never moved the entire time I was hauling heavy braces that I kept banging on the rocks. Check out his eye! Cool. Tonight while Joe and I were working at the lot and with the rain we had this morning the frogs were making all kinds of noise again. By the sound of them...we have many of them out there. They also burrow into the dirt walls surrounding the house, Joe kept seeing them trying to huddle as far back into their hiding spots as they could as he worked.
As I was driving to the lot last week and turned on our street the shower of leaves that has been raining down the last several days had left a carpet of them covering the road...I had to just stop and look at them. In a matter of a week nearly all the leaves are down.
The owners are clearing some of their lots across the street from ours and others going up the ridge to look more appealing and enticing - it does the trick! It's so beautiful.

Sunday drive home

On our way home from speaking in the Danville Branch we stopped at a tiny park to take a picture. Wasn't the most picturesque place available, just the most convenient without driving anymore miles than we already had this morning. A beautiful day. And this was the little town as we were leaving, isn't it just beautiful. The entire drive was breathtaking.

We have a porch

Well, the trucks are gone the walls are full and the porch is being worked. Much to do to secure the walls for the pour as you can see in this one small section....worth it though when there are NO blowouts. Great job!!

Time now to power wash the walls and rid them of the cement over spray and spills. Actually it was quite clean considering the amount of time and effort it takes to maneuver the pump hose.
Look any different???? It does to us!!
