Happy Birthday Cory!!!!

We made your favorite!! A berry pie....and it sure IS good! So we celebrate and honor you for your birthday, Cory. We appreciate all you do and admire your many talents and abilities that contribute and bless our family. We love you!!

All in a days work....

Actually I meant to have this picture second so you could see the progress of our huge Bon Fire! We let it burn for about 9 - 10 hrs and were able to get one of our large tree piles down significantly, which I am glad about. Not fond of wondering what is 'in' and under such a pile! Too many critters who are lookin for a good place to call 'home.' As we begin the bonfire we had to work hard to get it hot enough for it to feed itself after a day of rain. But as you can tell....it got going good.
This tree was completely hollow so we lit the inside and let the whole thing burn from the inside out. The heat was truly intense, it was awesome.
Can you say HIGH???? Scary job putting in the windows in the loft section! Let's just say at least one of the guys was hangin on for dear life...and I think you can tell it wasn't Joe ha ha!!
Occupational hazard!! Never - and I mean NEVER - try to use a scrap floor truss for a RAMP! Especially when the 'stride' is about 2ft apart and you are a 1ft stride size person!!! So not only was it hard to hit the part I needed to step on but when it tipped..... YEAH I ATE it and I'm still paying the price for that one!! I can say I am glad I didn't slip through and break a leg or something - PHEW! I need to be more careful to say the least.

Week ending the 15th..We have shingles

Roofers came on Friday and Saturday putting on shingles. We ran out of shingles so they will return to finish in a few days. They worked at a great pace, we were very pleased to have it almost dried in now. It's looking so good. Yesterday a few exterior doors were hung - one was slightly damaged so we'll have to wait for it to be repaired and returned before all the doors are in place. We expect windows soon and the brick has been ordered.

Spring is ALMOST here...

So, all those frogs we keep hearing and I keep telling you about - well I found one up close and personal yesterday! As I was cleaning up the lot I stumbled upon this little fella, look how close he let me get!! We sure have enjoyed listening to them all day.
While whacking down thorny briers and the biggest tangle of tough vines I found this little nest. It was a safe spot for sure, it took me hours to get to this area not far from the road.
Another little discovery is a cocoon for a flying insect of some kind, moth maybe??? I actually cut into one and was not able to determine what was inside.

Last but certainly not least are the bright bursts of color with these tiny flowers popping up here and there, love them!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Thought it might be fun to celebrate your birthday, Cory, just like we did when the children were growing up at home. So cupcakes were baked and the table was decorated in honor of your special day so that when you got up it was all done....even though you weren't here in person. We are sooo grateful for you and all you do for our family! You are a wonderful son, husband and daddy. "Happy Birthday to you!" Notice - we put your FAVORITE plate out for you too!

Look it snowed!!

See -you kids don't have anything on us, we get snow too! Of course ours is falling on grass that is turning green and trees blooming beautiful blossoms of white, pink and yellow. In just the last 2 days colors are emerging in anticipation of Spring. OK, so I had to get a close-up of snow that was in the shade barely covering the bark...ha ha!

23rd - 28th House progress

Another brick choice we are thinking about called, Autumn Blend.Front dormers can now be seen as they are framed in.
Master bedroom dormer from inside the house looking out. Not sure just exactly how we are going to open and shut any window covering. The yard light is just outside and off to the right of the house, may be a problem at night :)
S -T- R-E-T-C-H.... oh the danger of it all as they frame! Makes me a little nervous. I missed dad hanging off the back wall which is about 30 feet off the ground...eeek
