Baby Quilt progress

Getting excited my project is almost complete. Stenciled the outside border today and will begin to quilt it in the morning. I tried to lay it out in the sun so the design could be seen. I am so happy with the pinwheel effect...and it happened by accident after seeing the basting pattern as it was taped to the table. It looked like a sunburst - which looked so much like a spinning pinwheel. Just wish I worked a little faster :) I have to hurry...I have two more to get going on... Wahoo!!!

Walls getting higher

This picture is from the back yard looking at the new addition under the garage that will hold the yard equipment and tools. The opening you see will be a small garage door. Getting close to pouring cement down in the foam walls. I'm standing near the front of the basement looking out to the back yard into what used to be Jake and Caleb's rooms. Those walls aren't quite as tall yet because they are building window bucks that have to be cut around to fit.
Standing in the fruit room showing how tall the ceiling is this time around along the outside wall. Looking towards the front of the house with 6 rows now in place which brings it to 9'. I'll do another picture from the front next time.

Look what happens when it isn't RAINING

Scaffolding is going up and foam rows continue to be added. We've enjoyed a gorgeous week of sunshine...and NO rain. It appears we'll enjoy another week of the same. They need the break to make some necessary progress. It's looking great!
Joe is working on cutting out the spot for a window, no small task evidently.
Tyler joins the crew for a few hours to add a much needed helping hand...thanks Tyler!

From the road this is what you can see. That gives you an idea how deep it sets in the ground right now.

YAY!! Company....

While Tyler and I were coming back from the lot we spotted a little turtle and he wanted to show his children so we brought him home. He hid in his shell until later that afternoon- long after they were gone - when I found him hiding under a shrub near the front door. By the next morning he had burrowed down into the mulch under the shrub and there he remains for the time being. Took a moment to shoot a photo of those who hadn't gotten away yet as we stopped to see the lake and park. Wasn't long before the football was being thrown and children were being hoisted onto swings - thanks to Darienne - and memories were being captured on film down by the waters edge. It was a gorgeous day. Owen graciously offered to let me get in the picture too...thanks!
Two curious children watch for the tiny turtle to emerge from the safety of his shell. He didn't come out until much later so we sent them a picture via text message for them to see his cute little head.
Tuckered out from late nights and a busy vacation. Too sweet. They are ready for their own home and beds. This was taken as we said our good-byes and they were on their way again.

It's happening, the walls get started!

This is their first day of piecing the puzzle together - it's awesome! They had hoped to get two rows done and they aren't too far from their goal. The garage wasn't yet started to the right of the first picture but they were measuring and chalking it again. I can't even tell you how exciting it is to see something big happening again. And look, not much mud...wahoo. I took this picture from the 'back yard' looking toward the back of the house. To the left is the new addition on the garage and Uncle Bo is standing in what used to be about where Caleb and Jake's rooms were.

You know when this many trucks show up, something is going to get done...horray! This is the view inside the walls where the concrete gets poured. Rebar is laid horizontally on the black spacers (not sure what they are called really, I'll check though) There are still several layers to go before they pour cement but it's a grand start!

Grandbaby #4 is on the WAY!!

Tonight for Jenna's birthday it was actually us who got a BIG surprise...they are expecting a baby in April, only weeks behind Krista and Cory. FUN!!! Horray -JOY - Excitement - can't sleep feeling so gitty with happiness, catch our drift??? Phone calls to anyone who will listen sharing the news...YOU listening to me??? Another baby is joining our family and we are THRILLED! Yay

Rain, Rain and more Rain and 'Camelot'

Finally took a picture of Maime and Papa Joe wearing THEIR rain boots as we once again pump the muddy water from our basement, well what one day will be our basement...if it ever dries up long enough for the walls to go up. At this point we could have purchased our very own pump to use as needed. So much water. I do have to admit the sound of running water in the tiny streams is wonderful. Some day when the house is done and we can enjoy sitting in the screened in porch the sound of rain trickling down the stream will be nearly heaven.


Rain, Rain and more rain as we endure the effects of hurricane Gustav for the past several days.


During our recent weekend visit while Kathy was here I took some pictures of Mamaw and Papaw's place...completely picturesque. I never tire of it's charm and personality. Guess that's why Papaw lovingly refers to their place as, 'Camelot'. Notice the new look of the dining room, so pretty. Great job guys and gals...you know who you are.
